The award season is finally upon us and I cannot be more excited for all these amazing red carpet looks. To be frank with you, the red carpet is my favourite part of every event/award show. You get to see every outfit, every little detail and every flaw (I like those flaws, flaws are good).
Last night, on 6th January, America and the rest of the world experienced the glory of Golden Globes 2019. I'm interested in the show itself, the nominations, the presenters and the winners, but being the fashion addict that I am, I couldn't just focus on the obvious. So here are some of the best red carpet looks and, IN MY OPINION, some flops.
Taraji P. Henson in Vera Wang
YESSSS! Vera Wang never fails to disappoint us! This velvet gown is truly amazing and Miss Henson is utterly fantastic.

Okay, now what the hell is this? Florals for Spring? Groundbreaking...
Irina Shayk and Bradley Cooper
One of my favourite Hollywood couples, honestly. Irina Shayk looked absolutely stunning in this sheer gown with the slit on a side to show off her long legs. It seems as though she can barely breathe, but that's normal for red carpet looks, right? All white suit always steals my attention, just as Bradley Cooper himself. (A Star is Born is incredible! I sobbed like a baby and later on sang all of their songs)
Danai Gurira (left) in Rodarte and Patricia Clarkson (right) in George Chakra
Two amazing women in two fabulous dresses. Since coral is the Colour Of The Year 2019 according to Pantone, the stylists did a great job at making these actresses look fashionable/trendy.
Julia Roberts in Stella McCartney
Now, I lovelovelove Julia Roberts, but this outfit... A dress and pants, all in one... This doesn't sound like a bad idea in some cases, but I don't know heart... Something about this turns me off. Maybe it's the colour palette - if it would be all in nude tones, then this would work, I think.
Well, to be honest, Julia Roberts had a number of stunning red carpet looks throughout her entire career that this one can just slide.
Troye Sivan in Calvin Klein
Troye Sivan brings me soooo many nostalgic teenage years that my heart always melts when I see him. This time, it's no exception. He looked lovely in this Prussian blue tuxedo. I love the shape, the cut, the length - EVERYTHING!
Janelle Monae in Chanel
Oh, sweet Jesus where do I even begin... First off, this does look like Chanel when you give it the first glance. The bad Chanel, unfortunately. The layering, the chunky old gold, don't even get me started on the hat (if I can even call this a hat). If you take every bit from this outfit (the belt, the neck piece the shorter 'dress'), they don't look bad at all, but together they just don't work.
Billy Porter in Randi Rahm
Mr Billy Porter never disappoints us, mortals, with his outfits. He always looks so chic and confident, rich in colour - rich in life. The pink silk and gold cape, the texturised tuxedo with flowery embellishments. LOVE IT! Florals for Spring are good in some cases, okay.
Lady Gaga in Versace
I obviously saved the best one for last. JUST LOOK AT HER. THE DRESS, THE HAIR, THE LADY HERSELF. Do I even need to say anything else, besides the fact that Miss Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta slays every red carpet that she appears on? Even her meat dress fiasco in 2010 left everyone shook to their cores.
I couldn't fit every amazing/horrible red carpet look from this year's Golden Globes, so I'm providing some links for more red carpet fashion:
All the love in the world,
Karolina x
