Juozas Statkevičius - the most famous designer in Lithuania's history. The most controversial, hated and, at the same time, loved individual in my country. 

"Want it or not, I am already the history"

Even Anna Wintour noticed his work when he had fashion shows in New York and Paris. "He is the reason why Lithuania appeared on my 'fashion map'" - once said the editor of the American Vogue.

Juozas Statkevičius is the first designer in Lithuania who had his work published in Vogue, Elle, L'Officiel and Harper's Bazaar. 

Why he's so controversial in my country? He is a very unique individual who is not afraid to speak his mind loud and clear. His Instagram content created public outrages when he started to post revealing photos of himself enjoying the sun on his holiday. Statkevičius made some negative comments about Lithuania's economic and social situations and people instantly dragged him across the floor for it. To be honest, we all have said some things that we wish we could take back. But I believe in redemption. Do you?

ANYWAY.. On the 28th November, his fashion house had its' 30th birthday and for that Juozas Statkevičius presented an entire collection dedicated for it. It was the biggest event of the year for Lithuanian fashion, a lot of celebrities, bloggers, influencers, musicians, artist and even politics showed up in fabulous outfits.

One part of the collection consisted of some older pieces that have been alive for decades from fashion shows in Paris and New York. The other part was created for Spring/Summer 2019.
Every single dress and outfit was truly amazing and unique in its own way and I absolutely adored both of these collections. Some dresses were specifically made just for the display and one-time events and others were more versatile and wearable. The same applies to menswear. I am not going to go into detail of what I think about a specific look because they all speak for themselves.
